PrintOur man Newt seems to be on the ropes these days: perhaps even about to be knocked, bruised and bleeding, from the ring. We might miss him once he's gone. Who else would scorn and jeer at the "elites in Manhattan who live in high-rise buildings and ride the subway." Only Newt would, even as he stays out of our elite subway, and limos over to Tiffany's to pick up another trifling bauble for Callista.
It is clear that Newt, the legendary historian, has a tendency toward the grandiose, and can sound an awful lot like other grandiose leaders of the recent past:

Yes, all the quotes are from Gingrich. We tried to find equally bombastic quotes from Mussolini but just couldn’t. Gingrich sounds more like Mussolini than Mussolini did!
